Digital transformation starts with a problem, not an app
"We need an app" is a common opening line for projects. But an app is only a tool. Successful digital projects usually start with a clear understanding of the problem to be solved.

01State the problem in one sentence
Try writing the problem without naming any technology, such as "the sales team spends half a day putting reports together". A statement like this opens up more possible solutions.
02Listen to the people who run the process
The people who run a process every day know where it gets stuck. Involve them from the start, not just at app training.
03Consider the simplest solution
Sometimes the problem is solved by tidying up a process or the data, with no new app. Sometimes adjusting an existing system is enough. Building from scratch is the last option, not the first.
04Test on a small scale
Before rolling out company-wide, try the solution with one team or one region. The results show what to fix before costs grow.
